The bodies of seven men were reportedly found dumped on a frequently busy roadway in the Huasteca region along the Gulf Coast, a destination that has reportedly been a popular tourist attraction for years. According to a report from CBS News, and prosecutors in San Luis Potosi State, the bodies did not appear to be those of anyone from Aquismon, the township where the bodies were found. Prosecutors believed the men were killed elsewhere and then dumped in rural Aquismon Township.
The bodies were left with extensive bruising on the corpses, suggesting they’d been beaten and likely tortured before being killed, according to the report.
Writing on the bodies of the corpses, written with what prosecutors believe was a black marker, read “This is what happened to me for working with the Gulf”. According to Wikipedia (and Narcos!), the Gulf Cartel is one of the oldest organized crime groups in Mexico.
