A current DEA Agent and a former supervisor at the DEA were charged with leaking confidential law enforcement information to defense lawyers in Miami, in exchange for $70,000 cash. A report from the Associated Press said, the five count indictment charged DEA Agent, John Costanzo Jr., with accepting bribes to provide sensitive information about pending investigations to former DEA Supervisor for Miami, Manny Reico.

Reico reportedly retired from the DEA over two years ago, before going on to work for Miami area defense lawyers as a Private Investigator. The indictment claimed Reico used the information to recruit new clients at times.

The two men are alleged to have coordinated unlawful searches of criminal databases via burner cell phones, that Reico is alleged to have purchased. The indictment goes on to say that the operation was meant to mislead federal investigators and conceal payments from investigators. This was allegedly done with the knowledge of the defense attorneys Reico worked with.

The indictment said Costanzo used the illegal money he made to repair his Porsche, purchase airline tickets, and make a $50,000 down payment on a condominium.
