CAMP HILL INMATE’S DEATH RULED A HOMICIDE

39-year old, Joel Vanderpool, was found unresponsive in his cell at SCI Camp Hill earlier this week. A report from PENNLIVE, said the Cumberland County Coroner’s Office have officially ruled Vanderpool’s death a homicide on Thursday.

Vanderpool died at 3:27 a.m. on Wednesday morning due to “multiple traumatic injuries”, according to Charley Haley from the Coroner’s Office. A Spokesperson from the P.A. State Police, said Vanderpool’s injuries were the result of a fight with another inmate.

Vanderpool was found by corrections officers doing their rounds. Prison officials said CPR was performed on Vanderpool by emergency responders, before he was pronounced dead.

Vanderpool was transferred to FCI Camp Hill on April 12th. He was serving a 1 to 6-year prison sentence for drug charges out of Bradford County, P.A. Vanderpool’s death is currently under investigation, according to the Penn Live report.
