Philadelphia Police reportedly pulled a man and his dog from a partial house collapse in the Nicetown section of the city. A report from CBS-3 Philly said the incident happened early Sunday morning on the 1900 block Bonitz Street.
Dennis Myers was sleeping on the first floor of the home with his dog when the house collapsed. He said the sound of the house falling around him, wasn’t the thing that woke him from his slumber. It was the sound of the police.
“The cops came in and they said ‘Your building’s fallen.’ I said huh? What? And the officer said ‘Yeah! Look!’ I looked right outside from inside. I said Oh no. I gotta get out of here.” Myers said.
Officers helped Myers out of the collapsed house. No one was reported injured in the collapse. Neighbors believe an incident that took place a couple of months ago may have caused the house to collapse. A car reportedly hit and damaged the front of the house during the incident. Philadelphia L&I is investigating the official cause of the collapse.
