Police said a dark colored SUV pulled up on the block and two or three gunmen inside of the SUV began firing at the 31-year old victim, who was walking down the street. An unmarked police vehicle occupied by two plainclothes cops was hit during the gunfire.

The police officers reportedly believed they were the ones being ambushed at first. When the officers spotted where the shooing was coming from, they returned fire. Police reportedly fired 9 times at the suspect’s vehicle. Investigators said the suspects fired at least 27 shots. 15 of them hit the victim. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he later died.

Investigators were still investigating the shooting on Monday morning. No suspects have been named and no arrests have been made at this time.
