Philadelphia Police said they are investigating a shooting in South Philly last night. According to a 6 ABC ACTION NEWS report, police got a call at around 1:30 a.m. on Wednesday morning, about a man who was suffering from a gunshot wound, had come into the Wawa on South Columbus Boulevard.
According to police the 31-year old, sound engineer, was standing in front of a recording studio in the area, waiting for Uber Eats to arrive with his food order. The man told police he saw five masked men quickly approaching.
“He was able to tell police that he was working in a recording studio. He’s the sound engineer in the studio. He was working and he ordered food from Uber Eats.” Said Philadelphia Chief Inspector Scott Small. “He got scared and began to run. When he ran, he heard multiple gunshots then realized he was shot in the leg. “Small continued.
At least 21-shots were fired at the sound engineer, according to police. The back door of a nearby laundromat and several cars were hit by gunfire. The victim managed to make it to Wawa while being shot at by the five suspects in hot pursuit.
The victim was taken to Jefferson University Hospital by police who arrived at the Wawa. He was last reported to be in stable condition.
No suspects have been named and no arrests have been made at this time.
