A stolen car filled with occupants between the ages of 14-16 years old, crashed into a T-Mobile store in the Hunting Park section of the city yesterday. A 6 ABC ACTION NEWS report said the incident happened at the T-Mobile store located on the 700 block of East Hunting Park Avenue at around 5:30 p.m. on Saturday afternoon/evening.
The T-Mobile store had about 11 employees and 5 customers inside of the store at the time of the crash. Two customers were reportedly injured. One of them was injured from shattered glass.
Police said the driver of the stolen vehicle was a 16-year old boy. The three passengers in the car were also teens between the ages 14-16. The car was stolen from the 1200 block of East Hunting Park Avenue, at around 5 p.m. on Friday. The owner of the vehicle left the keys in the car while he exited his vehicle, and someone jumped in and took off in his car, according to police. The owner of the vehicle spotted his car being driven by the teen on East Hunting Park Avenue on Saturday. He notified police in the area, who quickly tracked the car down, and attempted to pull the car over. The driver hit the gas instead. After crashing into the store, the teens attempted to flee the vehicle. The driver was caught by a T-Mobile employee. One of the passengers were caught by the owner of the stolen vehicle. Two passengers escaped from the scene, but were later apprehended by police.
Police said the suspects may face aggravated assault charges, on top of the charges for auto theft and other related charges.
