Police said a 31-year old woman is in the hospital after being shot in the Kingsessing section of the city last night. According to a report from 6 ABC ACTION NEWS, the incident happened around 9 p.m. on the 5900 block of Trinity Street on Wednesday night.
The victim was reportedly the passenger in the car. A male friend was making the deliveries. Authorities said that when the man got out of his Subaru to make the delivery on the block, gunshots rang out. The Subaru was struck twice, while the victim was still inside. Police believe one of those two bullets that went through the vehicle hit the victim in the back.
The driver jumped back in the car and drove off. He managed to flag down a police officer at 61st & Woodland Avenue. Police transferred the victim from the Subaru to their cruiser and rushed her to Presbyterian Medical Center. She was last reported to be in stable condition.
Police said they found three spent shell casings at the scene. They also say they found two cell phones at the scene. Police said they are not certain if the cell phones belong to the Uber driver or the suspects.
No suspects have been named and no arrests have been made at this time.
