Police said three individuals who had firearms in their possession, were all detained pending further investigation. Columbia, S.C Police Chief, W.H. “Skip” Holbrook, said that at least one of the three people being detained fired a weapon. Holbrook went on to say that he does not believe the shooting was random. He believed two individuals or groups known to each other, got into an argument of some type, before the shooting started.

No fatalities have been reported, but two of the eight victims taken to the hospital are currently in critical condition as a result of their injuries. Authorities reported the ages of the victims to be between 15-73 years old.
