Police in Philadelphia said they are investigating a shooting that injured a mother and her child as they slept inside of a residence in North Philadelphia, last night. A 6 ABC ACTION NEWS report said the incident happened on the 1800 block of Venango Street at around 8:36 p.m.
The mother and her young son were reportedly both injured by bullets from a silver sedan that reportedly drove through Venango Street, with the passenger firing shots out the window. The gunman reportedly fired over 21-shots from his seat in the vehicle. Multiple homes on the block were hit by gunfire, according to police.
The 28-year old mother was reportedly shot in the upper thigh. The 5-year old was grazed in the forearm. Police believe both may have been hit by the same bullet.
“There’s a bed in the living room right under the window. We know one bullet went through the lower part of the window frame and into the house.”
Philadelphia Chief Inspector Scott Small said. The mother and child were taken to the hospital. Both were last reported to be in stable condition.
