Heavy rains washed away a chunk of the Roosevelt Boulevard during last night’s storm. The rains created a huge pothole on the Boulevard, and multiple cars were reported damaged before police closed the outer lanes to traffic. A report from 6 ABC ACTION NEWS said, police were called to the Roosevelt Boulevard near Wissahickon Avenue area at around 1:30 a.m. for a report of multiple vehicles stranded on the side of the road with flat tires.
Police said there were seven vehicles with flat tires when they arrived at the scene. The road was reportedly worn down to the steel bar, with a hole estimated to be 8 feet long, 2 feet wide, and 6 inches deep.
A tow truck driver on the scene said he’d already changed around 20 flat tires, before police eventually closed the Boulevard’s outer lanes in the area, as the Streets Department moved in to make “emergency repairs.”
