Philadelphia Police said a teenager is hospitalized in critical condition, after he was shot while sitting inside of a car in West Philly last night. A report from 6 ABC ACTION NEWS said the shooting happened on the 4900 block of Hoopes Street, at around 8:30 p.m. on Monday night.
Police believe the 13-year old victim was targeted.
“So it seems like the shooter comes up Westbound on Hoopes Street and fires as man as 16 shots, striking the vehicle on the hood, on the windshield, and along the side of the car.”
Police Captain, John Walker said in a statement. The victim was reportedly sitting in the passenger’s seat of an Acura SUV. Police said the teen appeared to be in the vehicle by himself when the shooting began. The 13-year old was reportedly shot in the head, chest, and arm. The teenager was rushed to the hospital by medics, with his mother by his side. He was last reported to be in critical condition at an area hospital.
