TRACKING DEVICE HELP POLICE TO TRACK DOWN TEENS IN CARJACKED VEHICLE

Police said they arrested two teens driving around in a vehicle that had been carjacked in North Philly earlier this afternoon. A report from Fox-29 Philadelphia said that a woman was carjacked by an armed young man at around 4 p.m. on Wednesday after noon at 11th & Stiles Street in North Philadelphia.

Police reportedly used a tracking device inside of the car to follow the vehicle as it traveled through several neighborhoods around North Philly over the next hour or so. Police caught up to the Kia on 13th Street & Lehigh Avenue. Police reportedly followed the vehicle to Silver Street where the carjacked Kia was crashed into by a passing vehicle. Two 17-year olds were taken into custody after the crash. A boy and a girl, according to police. Both were taken to nearby hospitals and treated for minor injuries.

Police said they found two semi-automatic weapons and an undisclosed amount of cocaine inside of the Kia sedan. According to the report, no charges were reported immediately after the accident. No word yet on if there will be charges at a later time. This story is currently developing.
