Police in Foster Township, P.A., said a pile-up crash involving more than 50 vehicles, killed three people on Monday in Pennsylvania. A report from WJHL-11 said the incident happened on Interstate 81 at around 10:30 a.m., at the same time a snow squall was making its way through the Foster Township area. The Township is about 100 miles Northwest of Philly.

The heavy, and sudden snow, immediately made for horrible driving conditions. A Schuylkill County Deputy coroner reportedly confirmed the deaths of the three victims on Monday evening. Their identities have not been released at this time. More than 24 people were taken to the hospital for treatment. Authorities say the pile up was caused by heavy snow that led to “whiteout conditions” and slick roads.
