Miami Beach officials have declared a state of emergency on Monday. They’re also imposing a curfew in Miami Beach. This comes after 5 people were reportedly injured in 2 separate shootings during the Spring Break festivities this year.

A report from 6 ABC ACTION NEWS said Miami Beach Mayor, Dan Gelber and City Manager, Alina Hudak made the announcement at a news conference on Tuesday afternoon. The announcement included word that there will be a curfew in effect for the South Beach area that starts early Thursday after midnight, and runs through the weekend.
Three people were reportedly injured on Sunday on a street police said was crowded with “Spring Breakers.” Two of the wounded were taken to the hospital. A third person arrived there with a gunshot wound. All three were reportedly expected to survive their injuries.
On Monday, two officers patrolling the area where the Sunday shooting took place, heard multiple gunshots, according to police. The officers went to investigate. Once there, they found two women suffering from gunshot wounds. The women’s wounds were not “life threatening” according to the report.
