Police in New Orleans said four teens are facing murder charges after a carjacking that ended up killing a 73-year old woman. A report from THE ASSOCIATED PRESS said the woman was dragged at least a block, as horrified neighbors looked on.
Because of their ages, the teens were only identified as a 17-year old boy, a 16-year old girl, and two 15-year old girls. The incident reportedly happened on Monday. Two of the teenagers were turned in by their parents, within hours of the incident. All four have been charged with second-degree murder charges. Police Chief, Shaun Ferguson, said he was going to request to the District Attorney that the teens be tried as adults.
Ferguson said the 73-year old woman died after she became entangled in her seatbelt as the teens sped off in her car. The door reportedly closed on the seatbelt, and 73-year old, Linda Frickey, was stuck in it.
