PHILADELPHIA, P.A. (MT. AIRY)
A 16-year old was shot by a driver he was attempting to carjack on Thursday night. 6 ABC ACTION NEWS reported that the incident happened on the 6500 block of Cherokee Street in West Mt. Airy, at around 7:30 p.m.

Police identified the attempted carjacking victim as, 60-year old Oliver Neal, who described the incident to reporters on the scene. Neal said he was approached by two young males as he was exiting his vehicle. One of whom had a gun.

“He said ‘give me the keys’. By then I had my hand on my weapon and saw him tighten his grip and I knew I had to shoot. I think he shot first, but I don’t know. All I know is we went back and forth. I started shooting and next thing I know, he hops across the street, drops to the ground….I just kept shooting. The Lord was protecting me. Soon after, I was thanking Jesus for my life.”
The 60-year old told reporters. Police said the 17-year old suspect is in the hospital, and was last reported to be in critical condition. Police said they found the teen sitting in a Jeep, suffering from his gunshot wounds. The jeep the 17-year old was reportedly found in, had been stolen from a victim in a separate carjacking last weekend.
