PHILADELPHIA, P.A. (MT. AIRY)
Philadelphia Police say a 17-year old girl is dead after a shooting in East Mt. Airy on Friday night. 6 ABC ACTION NEWS reported that police learned about the victim when they received a call to respond to Chestnut Hill Hospital at around 9 p.m. After investigation, police discovered that the shooting victim was a 17-year old girl who had been shot four times, including once in the head.

The girl was pronounced dead a short time later. Police learned that the girl’s shooting happened on the 6600 block of Ross Street. The victim was allegedly sitting in the passenger’s seat of a white Toyota, with three other occupants in the car. Suddenly a dark-colored SUV pulled up alongside the parked Toyota, someone from inside the SUV, opened fire on the Toyota, hitting the 17-year old girl multiple times in the process.
Police believe the teen was caught in the crossfire, and not the intended target inside of the Toyota. No arrests have been made so far, but police say they believe the incident may have been captured on surveillance video from a neighbor’s house or local business.
