A report from 6 ABC ACTION NEWS said, the fire broke out at around 6:40 a.m. Heavy flames were already coming from a home on the 800 block of North 23rd Street when fire crews arrived on the scene a short time later.

The Fire Department said it took about 50 minutes to get the blaze under control. ATF arrived at the scene a short time after firefighters and police, and had already joined the investigation, at last report. 8 people managed to get out of the house alive. Two of the 8 were taken to Children’s Hospital Of Philadelphia, and a third was taken to Temple University Hospital to be treated for injuries. Officials said the building had four smoke detectors in it, but none of them were working.
