Two police officers were shot while reporting to a call at a hotel on Wednesday night. ABC NEWS reported that one of the officers were killed, and the other officer is currently hospitalized in serious condition.
The two Bradley Police Department officers were responding to a report about dogs in an unattended vehicle barking, at around 9:40 p.m. on Wednesday night, according to the ABC report. The unattended vehicle was reportedly parked in the parking lot of a Comfort Inn Hotel. After finding the vehicle, the officers reportedly went to the room where the vehicle’s possible owner may be. While talking to the occupants of the room, the officers were reportedly attacked by the room’s occupants (shooting them), according to the Sheriff’s Office. The two officers were rushed to nearby hospitals.
Sgt. Marlene Rittmanic, was killed in the shooting. Officer Tyler Bailey reportedly suffered from a severe head injury. At last report, he was still at the hospital being observed. The police have named 25-year old Darius Sullivan as one of the shooters.
