33-year old Jamarr Thompson died on Monday in an altercation with another inmate. This makes the third time an inmate has been killed in a U.S. Federal prison in the last month. ABC NEWS reported that Thompson was pronounced dead on Monday afternoon. Thompson was an inmate at U.S.P Florence, according to the Bureau Of Prisons (B.O.P) records. Officials said Thompson’s death came as the result of a fight with another inmate.

B.O.P Officials say staff members were called to respond to an altercation between Thompson and another inmate at around 2:30 p.m. Staff said they “promptly initiated life-saving measures” upon arrival to the scene. Thompson was pronounced dead by emergency medical crews. The other inmate involved in the fight was allegedly treated for minor cuts and bruises. Thompson was serving a sentence of a little over five years for attempted robbery of a bank. He’d been at U.S.P Florence since March of this year.
