“I know this isn’t what you we’re expected but WE ARE expecting!” 25-year old, teacher from Texas, Cavanna Smith, wrote in a card addressed to Kwanmaine Boyd. Police found the “congratulations” card next to a picture of an ultrasound taken on October 5th. The ultrasound confirmed that Smith was more than four weeks pregnant.
A report from BOSTON .COM said, one of Cavanna Smith’s friends began receiving frantic texts messages from her. One of her texts read “I’ve been kidnapped.” A follow-up texts said she was in the back of Boyd’s truck.
Smith was shot and killed shortly before 7amon October 6th. Boyd (the prime suspect) went missing for more than a month after Smith’s murder, police said. Boyd was arrested by the Houston Police Department (HPD) on Friday. On Monday the HPD announced that Boyd has been charged with capital murder for Cavanna Smith’s murder.
Smith reportedly went to Boyd’s home on October 6ty to collect some money he owed her. At 6:42 am she sent her location to her sister with a message: “I’m at this location getting my money if anything happens to me.”
