Philadelphia Police say a pregnant woman who was returning home from her own baby shower, was shot and killed on Saturday night. According to a report from CBS-3 PHILLY, the incident happened on the 6100 block of Palmetto Street, shortly after 8:30pm.
Police officers arrived at the scene to find a 32-year old woman who was 7 months pregnant. She had been shot in the head and stomach. The victim had been identified as Jessica Covington. She was a resident of Palmetto Street. Authorities described the shooting as “domestic” in nature.
Covington was rushed to the hospital. She was pronounced dead shortly after 9pm. The unborn child was pronounced dead shortly afterward. Covington was murdered as she carried gifts in from her own baby shower.
The city of Philadelphia is offering a $50,000 reward for anyone with information that leads to an arrest.
