Philadelphia police are searching for a suspect who fired at police officers in the Strawberry Mansion section of North Philadelphia on Wednesday night. A report from 6 ABC ACTION NEWS said the incident happened at around 9pm, on the 2900 block of West Dauphin Street.

Police say two plainclothes officers from the 22nd district were in an unmarked Chevy, when they spotted a driver driving “erratically.” The undercovers called for a marked car to come pull the vehicle over. The undercovers continued to follow the erratic driver, as they awaited units to arrive and pull the erratic driver over. The officers said the driver of the car suddenly got out of the car at 30th & Dauphin Streets, and opened fire on them. The suspect fired 11 shots at the officer, five of which hit the unmarked Chevy. A bullet that struck the Impala’s front windshield caused shards of glass to fly into the vehicle. One of the officers were struck in the face and neck by glass shards. He was taken to the hospital, where he received stitches for his wounds.

Police say they never returned fire. The plainclothes cop driving the Chevy put the car in reverse and escaped as they were being fired upon. No arrests have been made yet.
