SPRINGFIELD, ILLINOIS

30-year old, Ocheil Keys, of Danville, Illinois, was sentenced to a total of 96-years in prison on Thursday. Keys was convicted on all counts in the murder and dismemberment of his once, longtime girlfriend, Barbara Rose.

Fox Illinois reported that Keys received a 60-year prison sentence for first degree murder. He got another 30 for dismembering a body. The 6-years were for three counts of concealing a homicidal death. The judge ran the sentences consecutively.

Barbara Rose

Keys shot and killed his girlfriend, Barbara Rose, on October 22, 2017. Keys told Rose’s family she’d left the state. He then attempted to conceal the murder by burning Rose’s body in an abandoned building. That didn’t work, so Keys decided to dismember the body, in an attempt to hide it. After a week-long missing person’s investigation, investigators found Rose’s body in a car owned by Keys’ mother.
