The New England Patriots cut veteran Quarterback Cam Newton on Tuesday morning. The New England Patriots also named rookie QB Mac Jones this season’s starter.
Newton played 9 season with the Carolina Panthers, before the team that drafted him, released him last season. With the departure of Tom Brady, and after shipping Jimmy G off to San Francisco, New England were in search of a veteran QB, as they prepared for “life without Brady.” The Patriots were a disappointing 7-8 last season with Cam at QB(7-9 overall). A losing record is something the Patriots haven’t had to deal with in awhile. Even though Cam was re-signed by the Patriots on a 1-year deal, that was worth up to $13.6 million, they still took a rookie QB with their first pick of the 2021 NFL Draft(#15 overall). Newton’s future in the NFL seems to be up in the air at the moment. Will any team make him their starting QB this season? A better question is, if Cam doesn’t get a starting spot somewhere, will his ego allow him to sign with a team knowing he will be backup QB?

I don’t know who’s flooding the blogs with the same repeated article, but it’s old. We know what’s going on.
