According to the FBI, 40-year old, Matthew Taylor Coleman, of California, took his 2 -year old son and 10-month old daughter to Rosita, Mexico. The trio traveled to Mexico from their home in Santa Barbara, California. According to an article in the Associated Press, Coleman shot each of his kids in the chest with a spearfishing gun.
The FBI said Coleman confessed to killing his children, stating “he believed his children were going to grow up to be monsters, so he had to kill them.” Coleman also told FBI Agents “he was enlightened by Qanon and Illuminati conspiracy theories, and was receiving signs and visions, revealing that his wife possessed serpent DNA and had passed it along to the children.” Coleman told FBI agents that “he knew it was wrong, but it was the only course of action that would save the world.
In a news release, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said Coleman’s wife had called the police on Saturday after her husband took off with the children. She didn’t know where he was going, and he was not answering phone calls or text messages. Coleman’s wife told police, she didn’t think her kids were in danger with their father, and that they didn’t have any problems in the family. The wife said they did not have an argument before Coleman left the house with the kids.
The U.S Attorney’s office also said Coleman’s wife traced his phone to Rosarito, Mexico on Sunday afternoon. The children’s body were found by a farmworker at a ranch near Baja, California on Monday. Baja California prosecutor, Hiram Sanchez, said the 2-year old had been stabbed 17 times, and the 10-month old 12-times.
