HARPER WOODS, MICHIGAN
34-year old, James Lewis Carlock, was arrested by local police on Wednesday. Carlock is suspected of pouring gasoline on his girlfriend, and setting her on fire, two days prior to his arrest.

News/Talk 750 WSB reported, Carlock was charged with one count of assault with intent to murder, assault with intention to do great bodily harm less than murder, unlawful driving away in a motor vehicle, and domestic violence.

The incident happened around 3am, early Monday morning at a home on the 1800 block of Elkhart Street. Carlock and his girlfriend were arguing when he poured gas on the woman and set her on fire. He then stole his girlfriend’s car and fled the scene, according to investigators working the case. Police said Carlock and his girlfriend were living together at the time of the incident.
The victim was rushed to the hospital, where she was treated for her burns. She was last listed in stable condition and is expected to recover. Authorities found Carlock in Detroit, still driving his girlfriend’s car. Local police and other agencies worked together to take Carlock in without incident. Carlock was also given habitual fourth offense notice, due to prior violent convictions. The habitual offense notice is expected to severely enhance any prison sentence Carlock will receive if convicted of any crime.
