SHEFFIELD LAKE, OHIO
The Police Chief of the Sheffield, Ohio Police Department has resigned after he was caught on CCTV putting a piece of paper with the words “Ku Klux Klan” written on it on a black officer’s desk.

According to a report from INDY 100, the Chief, Anthony Campo, also laid out a jacket to look like robes worn by the KKK.

The town’s Mayor, Dennis Bring called Campo’s actions “the most egregious and offensive thing you could possibly do.” Mayor Bring said when questioned about the incident, Campo insisted the whole thing was a prank. When he was informed that there was a harassment complaint about the incident, Campo allegedly smiled and asked “So, am I fired?”

Campo then, allegedly typed out his resignation letter before leaving. Mayor Bring said he personally apologized to the officer who was the target of Campo’s “prank.” The Mayor said it took the two men about 10 minutes before they could finally say something to one another. They both just sat there crying. “Things like this shouldn’t happen in 2021” Mayor Bring said.
