LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA
LAPD said officers shot and killed a man wearing body armor in Hollywood on Saturday. According to a report from ABC-7 (@ABC7), police were responding to a call at around 2:30pm. The officers were cut off by a vehicle in front of them on Sunset Boulevard near Fairfax Avenue. LAPD’s official statement says “the driver of that car stopped suddenly, and backed into the police car.”

LAPD says the man exited his car wearing body armor, and also with one hand behind his back. LAPD said the officers gave commands for the man to stop. He did not comply. Instead he continued moving toward the officers.

“The officers gave him commands, which he did not follow, and he started counting down, saying 3…2…1.. He started to pull his right hand from behind his back out to the front and at that time, there was an officer involved shooting.
LAPD Detective Meghan Aguiar said at the press conference. The man was pronounced dead at the scene after being hit with the gunfire from the officer’s weapon. The man’s car was recovered. The car was covered in what police believe are “religious writings.” At the time of writing, detectives were pursuing a search warrant so they could further investigate the man’s vehicle.
