THE “TOP GOON OF PHILLY” HIT WITH A 45-YEAR FEDERAL PRISON SENTENCE

38-year old North Philly rapper, AR-AB (real name: Abdul West), was hit with a 45-year federal prison sentence on Thursday. AR-AB had been accused of being the boss of OBH (Original Block Hustlaz). AR-AB argued that OBH was a record label, but the Feds convinced a federal judge that OBH was more than that. According to the Feds, OBH was a drug distribution/trafficking organization, that has at least one known murder under their belt. The feds said nothing in OBH moved without getting the green-light from AR-AB.

There were dozens of witnesses who testified against AR-AB at his trial. And there were likely dozens more who didn’t testify at his trial. But the one witness to testify against AR-AB that people are going to remember is probably Dontez “Tez” Stewart, who was already locked up for a murder before he decided to cooperate with the feds. Stewart was charged with killing OBH rival, Robert Johnson in 2017. Stewart told the Feds that AR-AB gave the order to kill Johnson. The Philadelphia Inquirer (@PhillyInquirer), reported that, U.S District Judge, Michael Baylson said he did not take the murder into consideration in sentencing him to 45-years in prison. Baylson also said AR-AB’s violent raps weren’t take into consideration either before sentencing. U.S District Judge, Michael Baylson, said he was sentencing West to 45-years in prison for “antisocial behavior.”

“You could have been a hero instead of a criminal. But you became a drug dealer. You made that decision. That’s why you’re being punished.”

Judge Johnson said as he sentenced West. AR-AB didn’t take this lying down.

“The court, the FBI agents, and the prosecutors don’t understand my culture. We don’t rap about flowers and rainbows. We’re gangsta rappers. We rap about where we grew up. So we rap about drug dealing. We rap about violence.”

AR-AB insisted, as he attempted to explain things to the judge. The prosecution disagreed with AR-AB. Dozens of witnesses, former associates, and likely other OBH members (or former members), testified that AR-AB and OBH got their heroin, cocaine, and meth from a connect in California. Witnesses also testified that AR-AB and OBH stored their drugs at upscale Center City apartments they purchased or rented. Witnesses said AR-AB believed storing the drugs in luxury apartments would throw the cops off, because that’s the last thing they would expect. Needless to say, AB was wrong. FBI agents raided one of the luxury stash houses and found 10 kilos of cocaine at the plush One Water Street Apartments, in the Olde City section of the city back in 2018.
