A body recovered in the Mississippi River on Tuesday, has been identified as 18-year old, freshman at Louisiana State University, Kori Gauthier, according to msn.comhttps://www.msn.com/

Gauthier was reportedly last seen by her family on April 6th. Police found her car abandoned on a bridge over the Mississippi River in Baton Rouge, the very next day. Someone had crashed into the abandoned car as it sat parked in the middle of the road. A massive search effort ensued. Dozens of departments and hundreds of volunteers had been looking for Kori since the day her car was found.

“Since Kori was first reported missing, the LSU Police Department, Baton Rouge Police Department, and other law enforcement agencies and volunteers have taken exhaustive measures to locate her and, in the process, to determine what led to her disappearance. This is a difficult conclusion for all of us, but we hope this will bring closure to the Gauthier family.”
LSU Chief Of Police, Bart Thompson said in a statement. Thompson also said no criminal activity or foul play was involved, based on cellphone tracking, video footage, and other evidence only shared with Gauthier’s parents “out of respect for their privacy.”
