Philadelphia Police Officer, Michael Kennedy was charged with six counts of making materially false statements to the FBI, one count of obstruction of justice, and one count of conspiracy to make a false statement, on Wednesday, according to Philly Voice (@thephillyvoice).

Kennedy’s charges by the FEDS stem from a 2016 warrant execution that Kennedy took part in. Kennedy allegedly grabbed cash that was drug proceeds, from the nightstand and pocketed it. The official FBI report says Kennedy stole the cash. Kennedy was later interviewed by the FBI. He lied in his interview. Afterward, he asked another officer to lie for him to corroborate the alibi he’d made up when he talked to the Feds.

“The charges against officer Kennedy allege behavior that is in stark contrast to values police officers are supposed to embody. Our community expects everyone in law enforcement to follow the law, and justice demands it.”
Acting U.S Attorney, Jennifer Arbittier Williams said at a press conference this afternoon. Kennedy faces a maximum 55-years in prison if convicted on the charges.
