A Capitol Police Officer was killed after a man rammed a car into two officers at a barricade outside the U.S. Capitol. The barricades were erected after the Jan. 6th attack on the U.S. Capitol building by Trump fanatics after he lost the election. According to a report from the Associated Press (@ap), After the man rammed his car into the officers, he got out of the car wielding a knife.

This was the second line-of duty-death for the department this year. (See first paragraph for first attack on the Congressional Building). Video shows the driver of the crashed car emerging with a knife in his hand and starting to run at the pair of officers, Capitol Police Acting Chief, Yogananda Pittman told reporters. Pittman said the driver stabbed one of the officers before other officers intervened, shooting and killing the suspect, who died a short time later at the hospital. Pittman did not identify the slain officer or suspect.
