Nike filed a trademark infringement lawsuit in federal court on Monday. The suit was filed against “MSCHF”, a streetwear company. MSCHF is the company that worked with Lil’ Nas X on his new sneaker, “Satan Shoes.”

NBC News (@nbcnews) reported that Lil Nas’ “Satan Shoes” allegedly contains a drop of human blood in the soles of each shoe. The blood was reportedly drawn from members of the MSCHF team. There was immediate controversy all over social media after the announcement that Lil Nas X’s new shoes contained human blood and was named Satan Shoes. Nike quickly moved to remove their name from the controversy by suing MSCHF. Lil Nas himself was not named as a defendant in Nike’s lawsuit.
“We do not have any further details to share on pending legal matters. However, we can tell you we do not have a relationship with Lil’ Nas X or MSCHF.”
Nike said in a statement on Monday. Turns out, the Satan Shoes are not an official Nike product, or have any affiliation at all with Nike, even though someone buying the shoes will probably buy them believing they are Nikes.
