When President, Joe Biden signed the American Rescue Plan this week, most probably paid attention to the $1400 Stimulus Payments. There were a lot of other good things in the Rescue Plan, including not taxing $10,200 in unemployment benefit payments.

A second round of relief is poised to affect the finances of millions of Americans as soon as the end of this year. The $900 billion package includes $600 one-time checks for those earning under $75,000 — half of what people received from the original pandemic relief package, known as the CARES Act. According to a report from CBS News (@cbsnews), the law waives $10,200 in federal taxes for people collecting unemployment benefits, for people who make less than $150,000 a year. That will benefit a whole lot of people. Many people did not request to have taxes taken out of their weekly unemployment checks. A job will usually automatically do these type of things for you. Not knowing about Unemployment Benefits being taxable, unknowingly put many people in a deep hole with the IRS. This bill will change all of that. I said it once, and I’ll say it again. There is a lot of money floating around, thanks to the American Rescue Plan. It might be a good idea to read the bill and find out if you’re eligible for any of these benefits. Get your money if it’s out there. Don’t let the government owe you shit! Because if the tables were turned, they’d definitely be all up in your ass about the money you owe them.
