Happy Monday. I hope you had a great Thanksgiving weekend…….but just in case you didn’t, here’s something that might make you feel better. No matter how bad your weekend was, it was probably better than former NBA basketball player’s Nate Robinson’s was.
Robinson was scheduled to throw down with Jake Paul, of YouTube fame on the Tyson/Jones undercard on Saturday night. I guess this was supposed to be one of those celebrity boxing match type of things. Many stars and celebrities tuned in to watch the Saturday night brawls. I mean, who wasn’t curious to see how Mike Tyson would look in the ring after being out of boxing for well over 10-years? People likely paid their $50 viewing fee to see Tyson/Jones, but most people say that the entertaining part of the night was the Nate Robinson vs. Jake Paul brawl. At least, that was all most people talked about after the fight. Nate Robinson has always been a basketball player that I respected. I’m pretty sure that he was told that he was too short to play the game most of his life, but he still made it to the NBA….and made some big shots in some big games too. Nate Robinson definitely made his mark on the game over the years. It takes time, motivation, and the kind of will and strength that most of us will never possess to make that happen. Nate Robinson’s entire legacy took a turn for the worst on Saturday night. It only took one right hand from Jake Paul landing square on Nate Robinson’s chin to turn Nate “The Little Engine That Could” Robinson into an internet meme……..immediately! I felt sadness watching Nate go out like that, because I know in 2020, all of the good things he’s done in his career will become overlooked by one embarrassing night of boxing. Sad. Anyway, you can check out some of the highlights (or lowlights) from the fight below. Oh yeah, Mike Tyson and Roy Jones fought to a draw in the main event on Saturday night.
