With the nation waiting on multiple states to finish counting presidential election ballots in the country, it looks like at least two individuals decided to attempt to take matters into their own hands, or at the very least, threaten some people with the possibility of violence.

6abc news Philadelphia (6abc) reported that two armed men have been charged after being found near the Philadelphia Convention Center carrying firearms. According to Philadelphia police investigators and the DA’s office, 42 year-old Joshua Macias and 61-year old Antonio Lamotta, both from Chesapeake, VA, traveled to Philly with violence on their minds. A woman was also arrested with the pair, but she was later released and not charged with a crime.

On Thursday, Philadelphia police received a tip that individuals armed with firearms were on their way to the Philadelphia Convention Center. The tip said the individuals were driving in a silver Hummer truck. The tip claimed the men told them they were on their way to the Convention Center to “straighten things out.” Police officers ran across the parked and unattended Hummer on 13th Street around 10:20pm. Minutes later, the men returned to their vehicle, that’s when the pair were searched for weapons. Macias was carrying a .40 caliber Beretta handgun inside of his jacket. Lamotta carried a 9mm in a holster. Police found an AR-15 inside of the vehicle, that police initially said had the serial numbers scraped off. A claim that Philadelphia police later reversed, saying that the weapon did have serial numbers. Neither man had a valid license to carry firearms in Philadelphia, which led to their arrest. Both were charged with carrying concealed firearms without a license, and carrying a firearm on public street or public property. Both charges are misdemeanors. The Hummer the pair drove had a window sticker and a hat with the Qanon logo on it. Qanon is a group started on social media, that believes in, and spreads wild conspiracy theories mostly online. The group claims to be anti-government, but somehow believes Donald Trump was sent here to fix the corrupt government…..among other beliefs of the group. The FBI labeled the group a domestic terror threat. The pair have not been charged with domestic terrorists activities as of yet, because police say “at this time we do not have any indication that the story is bigger than these two individuals.”
