In the midst of the mostly peaceful George Floyd protests in Minneapolis in May, there were some who were looking to make trouble. It wasn’t BLM or Antifa as most right-wing people would have you believe. In this instance, it was a self-described member of a radical right-wing group who took the opportunity to try to take out a few police officers.

ABC News (@abcnews) reports, a member of the Boogaloo Boys has been charged with participating in a riot after he allegedly let off 13 rounds from an AK-47 style assault rifle into a Minneapolis Police Department Building during a protest march.

RICHMOND, VIRGINIA – JANUARY 20: A gun rights advocates wearing body armor and carrying firearms leave a rally organized by The Virginia Citizens Defense League near the State Capitol Building January 20, 2020 in Richmond, Virginia. During elections last year, Virginia Governor Ralph Northam promised to enact sweeping gun control laws in 2020, including limiting handgun purchase to one per month, banning military-style weapons and silencers, allowing localities to ban guns in public spaces and enacting a ‘red flag’ law so authorities can temporarily seize weapons from someone deemed a threat. While event organizers have asked supporters to show up un-armed, militias and other extremist groups from across the country plan to attend the rally and show their support for gun rights. 26-year old, Ivan Hunter, is accused of traveling from Texas to Minnesota to meet up with other members of the extreme group of radicals. Their alleged goal? According to Hunter’s statements, the goal was to carry out acts of violence during the protests which turned into small riots with the help of groups like The Boogaloo Boys.

The FBI describes the right-wing radicals as a “loosely-connected” group driven by militant anti-government sentiments. Members of the group regularly refer to “the boogaloo” as an impending civil war they expect will be incited by committing acts of terror across the country. Federal investigators say they reviewed video of Hunter firing rounds with his AK-47 style weapon into the 3rd Precinct Building while “looters” were still inside, and that he also assisted in setting the same building on fire. According to an FBI affidavit and Hunter’s statements, Hunter high-fived another individual, and while walking toward the camera yelled “Justice For Floyd!” The affidavit also states that Hunter was pinned as the shooter by an unidentified cooperating defendant.
