The short answer to the question at hand, in my opinion is……NO. I’m sorry to say it, but I just don’t see it. Unless something drastic happens, I believe the extra $600 in pandemic assistance will end on July 31st. There is so much attention surrounding these pandemic payments and most of the attention is negative. Republicans want to stop the payments, some employers want to stop the payments, I’ve even seen instances on social media where it seems as though people who are currently employed want the payments to stop. I don’t know what it is about unemployed folks getting a little help, but just the thought of someone getting $600 a week seems to really piss people off. Billionaires receiving millions of dollars in tax breaks didn’t cause people to bat an eyebrow, neither did billions of taxpayer dollars for the president’s wall, or the billions of dollars big businesses stole from the PPP loans, that were stolen by big corporations, that were supposed to be meant to help small businesses attempt to stay afloat. BUT, $600 for those who really needs it seems to really bother people for some strange reason. The reason is simple. As much as we hate to admit it, rich or poor, people are only happy when they believe someone is doing worse than them. Simple. America is a fu*ked up place. We’d rather take care of the rich than the poor.

The Republican excuse for cutting off the benefit is that $600 a week will make people not want to go back to work because it’s more than most people make at their jobs. If that’s the case, wouldn’t the logical solution be to raise the minimum wage so people can make more at their jobs???? Besides, most people don’t have a job to go back to right now. Most places are still closed. Some places that opened back up are now being told that they have to close back down again due to the rising number of people getting Coronavirus. So why make things harder for people when it looks like we’re headed right back into quarantine in the United States? Probably the same reason folks were mad that people who received food stamps were buying steak with their money. In the United States Of America, as a whole, we are only happy when we have someone to look down upon. Simple.

Democrats are hoping to get the payments extended through the new “Heroes Act” they’ve introduced and sent to the Senate. Republican Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has already stated that the bill is “dead on arrival”, and he has the backing of the Republican majority in the Senate. So, as I stated earlier, unless something drastic happens, those $600 pandemic assistance payments will ultimately end when they run out on July 31st. Even though common sense says these payments are one of the main things stimulating the economy during this pandemic. My advice……if you are collecting the extra $600 a week, stack that shit! There’s still 3 or 4 checks left. Make sure you have something in the reserve because there will be no more help from our government.
