Before I even get into this topic, let me first say, I’ve already applied for the grant over a month ago. Before the first batch of funds went dry. And I have yet to receive any word on the status of my grant application as of the time of writing this……Now that we have that little piece of nastiness out of the way, let’s get down to the topic at hand. The CARES act that was passed on March 27, was supposed to be money (a grant) for gig workers(Lyft, Uber etc.etc.), self employed individuals, and contract workers(excluding sex workers). The grant was for self employed workers whose business or income were affected by the Coronavirus. That pretty much includes everyone who has ever sold anything online. The grants were referred to as advances on a larger loan funded by the Small Business Association(S.B.A). The amount of the grants were initially supposed to be up to $10,000 for every self employed person, and they were throwing in an extra $1000 for every employee of said business. Around the time the first batch of funds began being dispersed by the S.B.A, the quickly changed the language of the grant. It dropped from $10,000 per business (or person), to $1000 per, with no extra for each employee. As you all remember, Congress initially approved $370 billion to be distributed to the S.B.A for loans for small businesses, $10 billion of which was supposed to go toward the grants. Well, we know what happened to that first batch of change! All of the big companies swooped in and stole loans that were intended for small businesses. The S.B.A and Steve Mnuchin went back to Congress begging for some more coin after getting pounded by small business owners who were upset that money that was meant for them went to much bigger companies, including Shake Shack, who snatched up at $10 million loan for themselves. Congress gave the S.B.A another $60 billion on April 23, and this time the S.B.A said they will do the right thing with the money. You may have some trouble securing a small business loan for yourself, but according to an article I read in Forbes Magazine (@forbes), the grants are pretty much guaranteed. Here’s how to hopefully get yours:

Head over to the SBA website, or follow this Link . That will take you to the EIDL loan application. The SBA hasn’t updated this page as of the last time I checked, but you should be able to apply very soon. Fill out the application. (Don’t forget to file as independent contractor, freelancer, or gig worker) The form will ask about your earnings from 2019. The cost of the goods you sold, and also your expenses. Also information like when did your business open? What percentage of the business you own?(100%) They will also ask for your bank account information. This is likely for direct deposit purposes, just in case you get the loan or grant money. I ‘m not 100% sure, like I said, I’m still waiting on my scratch! There will be other questions like where do you run your business from? Do you pay rent for your business? And a few other questions that should be easy to answer. So make sure you have all of your paperwork on deck! (Or at least a good guess). Last thing. Near the end they will ask if you want to apply for the $10,000 grant. I already told you that the grant is now $1000. Maybe they will correct the wording, maybe they won’t, but MAKE SURE TO CHECK THE BOX MARKED YES! I hope this information was helpful to you, especially in these drastic times. This is money given to us from taxes we pay. In other words THIS IS OUR MONEY! I don’t know about you, but the government CAN’T OWE ME SHIT! I need everything I’m entitled to, because if the shoe were on the other foot……..you already know the rest. Anyway, go on ahead and get your coins from the SBA. It’s worth a shot, even if you don’t get it. GOOD LUCK TO ALL!
