Did you get your stimulus money yet? On social media, I saw that a lot of people did. The first checks started going out some time earlier this week. The people who have received their stimulus payment were people who already filed their 2019 taxes and had their returns sent straight to their bank accounts via direct deposit. Those who chose to receive their tax returns by check were pushed to the back of the line for stimulus payments. Checks were rumored to be going out at the end of the month, but could take as long as August to get to people. I was one of those people who filed taxes and got my return via check. I don’t know about you, but I need my little $1200 before some damn August or September!
Worry not! The IRS looked out for us payment by check people, so I’ll pass the info along to you. The IRS has created a portal so those of us who filed our returns and received returns by check, can get our stimulus payment a hell of a lot faster. If you filed income tax and requested payment by check, you can switch to direct deposit by visiting the IRS webpage, or follow this link IRS and click on the blue “Get My Payment” button. Also, for those who didn’t need to file a return this year, you can send your information so you can receive your stimulus check too. After you click the button follow the instructions. Be aware: Your tax return information will have to match the exact numbers that were on your return (Tax return amount and adjusted gross revenue). You will also need your social security number.
