NBC News (@nbcnews) reported, Stone was also fined $20,000 and ordered to undergo 250 hours of community service and two years probation after release from prison. Federal District Judge Amy Berman Jackson said of Stone and the allegations that this was a political prosecution

“He was not prosecuted, as some have complained, for standing up for the president. He was prosecuted for covering up for the president.”

The judge had a few more harsh words for Mr. Stone before she imposed the 40-month prison sentence.

“At his core, Mr. Stone is an insecure person who craves and recklessly pursues attention. Nothing about this case was a joke. It wasn’t funny.”

Stone declined to make a statement before he was sentenced. Stone will not be ordered to go to prison until the judge acts on a defense motion for a new trial, based on claims of juror bias. Even then, the chance of the 67-year old close friend of Donald Trump’s, chances of serving any prison time at all are slim to none. Stone will likely be pardoned well before he serves one day in prison. Some predict Stone’s pardon from the president could come as early as next week.
