I appreciate Netflix for its February content. They usually throw on an extra load of black movies and documentaries during the celebration of Black History Month. This February is no different. One of the movies and documentaries I was looking forward to watching was this one. Malcolm X was such a huge figure in Black History that it’s hard to ignore anything having to do with the man. I also always wondered if his death was as simple as history told us it was. For a man that was so complicated, with so many people wanting him dead, this has always seemed highly unlikely to me. Three men were arrested for the killing of Malcolm X. One admitted to the murder, the other two did not. Many people believe that the shooters took orders from someone or some people a lot higher up the totem-pole, including Malcolm X historian, Abdul Rahman- Muhammad. Muhammad digs into multiple suspects and theories that were overlooked by a police department that seemed less than enthusiastic about finding the killers of Malcolm X. I’m only on episode-1, but already I can tell that I will learn a lot that was not taught to me in school. And a lot of things that didn’t show up in any history books I’ve read. You can check out Who Killed Malcolm on Netflix now. You can check out a trailer for the docu-series below:
