Seven Chinese nationals aboard a ship that is currently docked in New Jersey have been screened for the deadly coronavirus. So far, no cases have been officially confirmed from the passengers aboard the ship.
Time Magazine (@time) reported, 27 passengers in all from the Royal Caribbean Cruise Ship have been screened. Four are being kept for “observation” at an undisclosed hospital in New Jersey. At least two passengers were reportedly taken off the ship on stretchers to an awaiting ambulance nearby. Bayonne Mayor, Jimmy Davis said CDC officials had advised him that this was a “below low risk” situation and that all of the other passengers had been released with no issues.
As of Wednesday the total number of coronavirus cases in the United States rose to 12. Worldwide, the number is reported to be around 31,000, but no one seems to know for sure. The death toll from the virus was last clocked at 638. Most of those deaths reportedly coming from China.
