Michael Avenatti, who has become a household name since representing adult film star, Stormi Daniels in her lawsuit against Donald Trump, has been charged with extortion early Monday afternoon.

 

 

 

NBC News (@nbcnews) reported, Avenatti allegedly attempt to shake Nike down for $20 million with threats that he would use his publicity to drive the company’s stock down by billions of dollars. Avenatti seemed to make good on his promise when he took to Twitter to tweet

“Tmrw at 11 am ET, we will be holding a press conference to disclose a major high school/college basketball scandal perpetrated by @Nike that we have uncovered. This criminal conduct reaches the highest levels of Nike and involves some of the biggest names in college basketball.”

 

The FBI in The Southern District Of New York announced that Avenatti had been arrested a little after an hour after this tweet. Avenatti was allegedly charged in two separate criminal cases by the Feds just minutes apart. The details of the arrest and crimes remain sketchy at the moment, but the SDNY is scheduled to hold a press conference at around 2:30 pm est today. More details to come….
