CHESTER, PA

Philadelphia mayor Jim Kenney paid incarcerated rapper Meek Mill a visit on Wednesday morning. Meek is currently incarcerated at a prison in Chester. Mayor Kenney joins a host of celebrities, activist, and business moguls who have been to the prison to pay Meek a visit. All of them came to the same conclusion after they paid Meek a visit in the bing. Meek Mill can do more for folks in the community than he can from behind bars.

Philly.com (@phillydotcom) reports, Kenney’s spokeswoman, Ajeenah Amir, said in an email that the mayor believes “Meek would better serve the community outside of prison, and that his case makes clear and urgent the desperate need to continue working with our partners to reform the criminal justice system.”

Kenney reportedly spent about an hour visiting with Meek after being invited to the prison by billionaire owner of the Philadelphia 76ers, Michael Rubin. Meek has been receiving support for release from some major names including: PA Governor Tom Wolf, New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft, and Philadelphia 76ers players Joel Embiid, Ben Simmons, and Markelle Fultz.

Meek Mill is currently behind bars serving a 2-4 year prison sentence behind a probation violation. A sentence who many have called unjust, considering the circumstances. And a prison sentence that business mogul and rapper Sean “Jay-Z” Carter once called “heavy-handed.”
