Blake Bortles was one of the most criticized QB’s in the league last year. Even through all of the hate, Jacksonville has confidence in Bortles to lead the team. Why shouldn’t they? Bortles led the Jags all the way up to the AFC Championship game vs. New England before the Jags folded under the pressure the AFC Champs were putting on them. Even then, Bortles played a solid game. The Jags losing that game had very little to do with Bortles and his leadership. The Jags decided to reward their QB for his effort and show they have confidence in Bortles moving forward. The Jaguars resigned Bortles to a 3-year $54 million contract extension through the 2020 season. With incentives the deal could rise to as much as $66.5 million. ESPN’s Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) reported that the deal includes $26.5 million in guaranteed money.
