99-year old, Billy Graham died just before 8am this morning at his home in Montreat, North Carolina. A spokesman for Graham’s organization, Samaritan’s purse, says Graham was surrounded by family and friends when he passed away. Graham provided prayer and personal advice to United States presidents going all the way back to Harry S. Truman, in 1950. Graham became known as “America’s Pastor.”

 

 

 

Billy Graham was born on November 7, 1918. Graham was a Christian Protestant Evangelist and an ordained Southern Baptist Minister. Graham became a well known name and face in 1949. Over decades, Graham preached to live audiences of nearly 215 million people in more than 185 Countries and territories. Graham held large indoor and outdoor rallies with sermons which were broadcast on radio and television. In his six decades of television, Graham hosted annual Billy Graham Crusades, which ran from 1947 until he retired in 2005. Graham also hosted a radio show, Hour Of Decision, from 1950 – 1954. Graham repudiated segregation, and in addition to his religious aims, helped shaped the worldview of a huge number of people coming from different backgrounds leading them to find a relationship between the Bible and contemporary secular viewpoints.
