The Kansas City Chiefs are reportedly in the process of cutting a deal with the Washington Redskins that will send starting QB Alex Smith to the Skins. NFL Network insider Ian Rappaport @rapsheet just tweeed “There is an agreement in principle for Alex Smith to go to the Redskins. The deal will be finished tomorrow. This means Kirk Cousins will be a free agent. Mega-deal.” It’s not yet clear if Cousins is a part of the Alex Smith trade or if Kansas City already has another QB in mind to replace Smith. If Cousins is not part of the deal, the Redskins QB will surely be a hot ticket on the offseason free agency market. Will report more on this when more details are made available.
